In this after-school session, we'll explore highly effective routines that help engage students in the Five Components of Equitable and Engaging Teaching from the 2023 California Mathematics Framework. These routines foster curiosity, promote student engagement in math discussions, and emphasize reasoning, justification, and student-generated questions and conjectures. This session is suitable for TK-2 teachers.
This 90 minute session will cover the direction of mathematics in LEUSD regarding... 1. The recent changes to the CA Math Framework (common language) 2. Materials that are aligned and evidence based (use this, not that) 3. Instructional practices (McREL in action) 4. Professional development offerings (PLCs, staff mtgs, coaching, district offerings, etc.)
