Liz Atkinson is a seasoned professional with 32 years of experience in public K-12 education. She currently serves as the Director of LCAP & State/Federal Programs for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District (LEUSD) in Southern California. Liz’s extensive background includes roles as a bilingual teacher, elementary principal, coordinator, and director.
Before joining LEUSD 11 years ago, Liz worked in two other school districts in Southern California. Under her leadership, LEUSD has successfully leveraged improvement efforts through an internally created School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) review process and has actively participated in a district/county review process of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Strategic leadership remains a priority for enhancing student outcomes in LEUSD.
Liz is also a skilled leadership mentor and coach, providing guidance and support to educators and administrators. She possesses extensive knowledge in school and district improvement as a result of utilizing strategic planning. Liz holds a degree from Purdue University and is a proud Boilermaker. Outside of her professional life, she is a dedicated wife and mother of two children, a young adult and a teenager. Liz is also an avid fan of collegiate and professional sports.
