SVMI For Administrators: Understanding the assessment's purpose and instructional outcome.
Wednesday September 4, 2024 3:00pm - 4:00pm PDT
Our common assessments for mathematics in grades K-2 come from the Silicon Valley Math Initiative (SVMI). For the past 30 years SVMI has partnered with assessment creators to develop performance tasks that are aligned and rigorous. SVMI is mentioned several times in our CA Math Framework as a viable tool for assessing student thinking and driving evidence-based instructional practices. This 1-hour snapshot will overview:
  1. How to navigate the resources as an administrator
  2. How the assessments are designed
  3. What type of data you can expect and how teachers use the results for rich PLC discourse
  4. How teachers respond to the data they provide with evidence-based instructional strategies
