What's the Big Idea with the Big Ideas?
Monday July 29, 2024 8:00am - 2:00pm PDT
TBA
What are the mathematical Big Ideas in each grade level? Last year, the state of California revised the Math Framework and provided additional information about how teachers should approach grade level planning, sequencing, and instruction around their grade levels Big Ideas and NOT specific standards.

Come and spend the day with us as we spend the morning understanding the intended instructional design of your grade level and the afternoon accessing resources that can help us make this shift in our classrooms.

This session is recommended for K-MS but is highly encouraged for anyone serving as a representative on our TK-8 Math Adoption Committee.

SVMI (Grades 3-5 Focus)
Tuesday November 12, 2024 2:30pm - 4:00pm PST
Come and experience tasks that provide so much more than just a "rigorous" assessment. Spending a small but intentional amount of time on a task with your students can provide actionable data, meaningful feedback for your PLC, re-engagement lessons, intervention supports, and rich classroom discussions for days to come.

We will primarily be looking at the Silicon Valley Math Initiative's tasks during this training. Rooted in the principles of the Teaching for Robust Understanding of Mathematics (TRU) Framework (University of California, Berkeley & Michigan State) and the Mathematical Language Routines (Stanford University), SVMI designs and delivers uniquely transformative experiences and resources for equitable and engaging mathematics instruction.

Suitable for all teachers but this session will focus on grades 3 - 5
