Please Note:  This session is a repeat of sessions presented last spring, if you were unable to attend or simply need a refresher please come and join us! We can’t wait to write with you!

Do you have anxiety at the thought of teaching writing? Do your students moan and groan when you say, "writing"? Anxiety leads to resistance. Isn't this true? What if this resistance turned into enthusiasm? Come and see how you can start crafting a writing culture within your classroom that allows students to embrace writing and start seeing themselves as writers.

  1. How to navigate the resources as an administrator
  2. How the assessments are designed
  3. What type of data you can expect and how teachers use the results for rich PLC discourse
  4. How teachers respond to the data they provide with evidence-based instructional strategies

Our common assessments for mathematics in grades K-2 come from the Silicon Valley Math Initiative (SVMI). For the past 30 years SVMI has partnered with assessment creators to develop performance tasks that are aligned and rigorous. SVMI is mentioned several times in our CA Math Framework as a viable tool for assessing student thinking and driving evidence-based instructional practices. This 1-hour snapshot will overview:
  1. How to navigate the resources as an administrator
  2. How the assessments are designed
  3. What type of data you can expect and how teachers use the results for rich PLC discourse
  4. How teachers respond to the data they provide with evidence-based instructional strategies

Creating a System of Community Care for Staff Mental & Emotional Wellness (Optional Meeting)
Tuesday October 1, 2024 4:00pm - 5:00pm PDT

It’s a new school year! …AND with the excitement of the year, there may also be feelings of stress, overwhelm, or fears related to the previous year (or years). ‘Burnout’ in the educational realm continues to be a growing issue as many practitioners are straying away from this field. What can we do for ourselves? And how can we support our colleagues and staff? This two-part series will provide insight and strategies to continue to build our own systems of coping and strengthen our campuses to prioritize the needs of our educational communities. Session 2 will examine how to create a system of community wellness and care for educational staff to mitigate burnout. Join us as we discuss educator wellness as a vital and critical component for successful student outcomes.

If you requested to use 95% Talk to Learn curriculum in your classroom this school year, please join us as we dive into the building oral language comprehension, the TK Framework, and how 95% Talk to Learn supports these elements.

Please come with your Oceans Unit including the teacher edition and the associated cards. We will share video implementation of the suggested routines as well as provide time to prepare your materials. In addition, there will be time to share materials and ideas in a collaborative document. Please bring ideas you might include in a TK oceans unit. Be prepared with story titles, nursery rhymes, songs, poems, center ideas, and ways to differentiate for the various age groups.

There will also be an opportunity for feedback at the end of this collaboration series.

Assessment Committee (Invite Only)
Thursday April 17, 2025 3:30pm - 4:45pm PDT
The purpose of our committee is to decide on one benchmark platform that we would use across the district. The committee's purpose will be to create a rubric as the method in which we will evaluate benchmark assessment platforms, vet our platforms against the rubric and make a recommendation on the assessment platform we will adopt for the district. We are looking for a diverse perspective and representation in this committee: teachers of varying grade levels or subject areas from different schools and different benchmark platforms getting utilized.
